Two Fungicides Expand Disease Coverage Profiles in the U.S.

February 16, 2015

Turfgrass managers in the U.S. market may have more versatile protection against four additional diseases

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., February 16, 2015 — BASF has issued FIFRA Section 2(ee) recommendations expanding the application profiles of its Lexicon® Intrinsic® brand fungicide and Xzemplar® fungicide for use against four additional turfgrass diseases in most parts of the U.S. market. This move gives golf course superintendents and turf professionals in most states a broader range of protection against troublesome turfgrass diseases using two proven fungicide treatments.

The FIFRA Section 2(ee) recommendations address the use of Xzemplar fungicide against fairy ring, Bipolaris leaf spot, and Rhizoctonia leaf and sheath spot; as well as the use of Lexicon Intrinsic brand fungicide against spring dead spot.

“BASF is dedicated to helping maintain healthy turf,” said Nick Tresslar, Marketing Manager, BASF Turf and Ornamental Solutions. “With an expanded number of targeted diseases, Lexicon Intrinsic brand fungicide and Xzemplar fungicide now provide superintendents with maximum protection and superior disease control solutions.”

Xzemplar fungicide is a solo product containing only the active-ingredient fluxapyroxad, brand name Xemium®. Fluxapyroxad is a highly mobile and effective succinate-dehydrogenase inhibitor (SHDI) for preventative and curative management of key turfgrass pathogens.

Lexicon Intrinsic brand fungicide contains a 1:2 ratio of fluxapyroxad and the active ingredient in Insignia® SC Intrinsic brand fungicide. Lexicon Intrinsic brand fungicide is a next-generation Intrinsic product that gives turf managers both disease control and Advanced Plant Health benefits.

Turf managers should consult with their respective state regulatory agencies regarding the registration status of Xzemplar fungicide and Lexicon Intrinsic brand fungicide for use against these four additional diseases.
