BASF unveiled Aramax™ Intrinsic® brand fungicide in June 2024. One disease control cycle has taught the industry plenty about what makes Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide a go-to solution for cool- and warm-season fairways and how to best unlock its many benefits.
That’s simple: almost everywhere. Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide is labeled to control 26 diseases, including dollar spot, brown patch, leaf spots, summer patch and fairy ring. With excellent efficacy on snow mold and large patch, BASF has confidence in its performance by making it part of the “Max Assurance Program.”
“Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide is one of a long line of top-performing fungicides by BASF,” says Kyle Miller, a BASF senior technical specialist with extensive fungicide development experience. “It’s an ideal, value-driven, broad-spectrum fairway product to control just about any disease a superintendent might run across.”

On cool-season fairways, shoulder seasons offer windows to maximize applications. A late-fall application, Miller says, will not only provide snow mold control but tidy up turf before it enters dormancy. Intrinsic, Pillar G® and Lexicon®
“Every superintendent wants their course to be disease-free going into winter,” Miller says. “What golfer wants to look at disease marks like dollar spots all winter long because the turf is growing slowly or not at all? We suggest a fall clean-up spray with Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide. That’s a great way to eliminate what is a very common challenge for superintendents.”
On warm-season fairways, the effective and practical BASF Intrinsic Holiday Spray Program recommends Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide applications in October and March.
A streamlined label rate of one fluid ounce per 1,000 square feet (the equivalent of 43.6 fluid ounces per acre) controls all 26 diseases on the label. An active ingredient combination consisting of pyraclostrobin (QoI, group 11) + triticonazole (DMI, group 3) means Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide can deliver up to 28 days of control with fundamental application practices such as adequate water volumes and proper nozzle selection.
“It’s recommended that you use Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide as a preventative application for the diseases that you are targeting,” Miller says. “This ensures that Aramax can provide the best possible control.”
Rainfastness for Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide is one hour, Miller adds, giving superintendents greater flexibility when making an application.
BASF tested Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide with numerous tank-mix partners before releasing it to the golf market. Following its launch last summer, BASF solicited superin tendent feedback on performance.
“Superintendents across the country have been very, very pleased with its ability to be tank
mixed with other products,” Miller says. “Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide is an optimized SC formulation with excellent mixing capabilities. But when in doubt — or if you have a question — I always tell superintendents to do a simple jar test to determine compatibility with other products.”
The Intrinsic brand fungicide portfolio was the first to officially achieve EPA approval for plant health benefits. Along with Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide, it includes industry staples Navicon®, Insignia® SC, Honor® Intrinsic brand fungicides. Research trials with Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide demonstrate it improves post-aerification recovery, reduces drought stress and enhances rooting, according to Miller.
Miller recently visited the BASF production facility in Sparks, Georgia, to see firsthand where Aramax Intrinsic brand fungicide jugs originate. He left the facility even more bullish about what makes the fungicide special.
“I was super impressed with the quality of the people who run the plant,” Miller says. “They are just first-class folks. Secondly, you have never seen such a clean operation in your life. And thirdly, the attention to detail is second to none. From the analytical lab with state-of-the-art equipment to ensure product meets specifications, to the way they clean out the equipment prior to running a different product, to the automation in the place, they get everything right. I’m proud to know the products we deliver to superintendents that they use on their golf courses are of the highest quality.”
